Homographs (Mist v3)

Homograph overrides work on English Mist v3 only.

A homograph is a word that shares its spelling with another word but differs in meaning, in pronunciation, or in both. For Rime’s TTS API, only the pronunciation difference matters. For example, the words sow (verb, to plant seed) and sow (noun, a female pig) are spelled identically but pronounced differently, so the spelling alone can’t tell a speech synthesizer which one you mean. Mist v3 uses both contextual syntactic analysis and frequency information to predict which pronunciation is intended. If Mist v3 predicts the wrong pronunciation, replace the word with its word ID from the table below. In this example, produce_nou selects the noun (fruits and vegetables) and produce_vrb selects the verb (to make):

The table below lists every homograph for which you can specify a word ID. Most word IDs end in a tag for the sense they select, such as _nou for a noun and _vrb for a verb.
